Recent student demonstrations have shown increasing levels of violence and criminal acts, some of which have been directed against businesses.
On Tuesday 14th December 2010 early indications suggest that a further demonstration will take place and may attract significant numbers of protesters in and around central London.
For the reason outlined above CTSET (Communities Together Strategic Engagement Team) is requesting that the message listed below is forwarded to your business contacts for the attention of staff and, particularly, security personnel responsible for the safety and security of staff, members of the public and premises.
You should:
- Report any suspicious activity/sightings to police
- In an emergency consider the use of the 999 system
- Consider heightening security measures
- Staff to be reminded of evacuation procedures
- Ensure staff are briefed on personal safety
- Staff to challenge suspicious behaviour and unknown persons
- Staff to remain vigilant to thieves, acts of vandalism and other opportunist criminal acts
